Sustainable Endurance 🐜

If everything worked out perfectly in our lives, what would we be doing in 10 years?

In contemplating this question, we consider what really matters, and may guide our lives to achieve what we set out to do.

What we see and do, depends on how we deploy our attention. Our focus is our reality, and the more distractions, the more shallow our reflections. When we focus on what’s wrong about what we do, we experience negative emotions that claim our full attention. When negative feelings guide us, we do just enough to alter our mood for the better and then ignore it. Positive emotions make what we do feel more meaningful, urging us towards prolonged action.

Looking 10 years into the future may seem daunting, but a remarkable achievement is just a long series of clear and manageable tasks. A castle isn’t built right away, but brick by brick. Focusing on the bricks we lay generate positive emotions, leading to sustained action. For the next few days, let’s keep track of those bricks, however small they may seem, and hold one another accountable.

Sincerely,

Daniel Nazareth
